Organizational History One Human Family Workshops, Inc. (OHF) was originally formed as a music workshop by its three founders who had encountered many challenges and frustrations in their individual race unity work efforts. It quickly expanded beyond the initial focus to incorporate a variety of dialogue workshops, presentations, and other art forms such as dance, drama, and multi-media presentations. On October 25, 1999, the organization was incorporated and subsequently established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The impetus for the decision came about in an effort to more accurately describe the mission and vision of OHF’s programming. OHF has developed programs that creatively address racism both domestically and internationally. We have participated in a myriad of events that foster race unity, including the 2001 UN Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa and the World Conference of Women Religious & Spiritual Leaders in Geneva, Switzerland. We have developed children’s, youth and music workshop initiatives within our established administrative chapters, and offer both professional/corporate and community-based seminar series and a speakers network boasting the expertise of over 35 presenters. OHF has successfully presented 8 Summer Harvest Tours since 1998. In the last two years, OHF has expanded to included workshop choirs in several Canadian provinces. The OHF program model is easily replicated and has established a high degree of credibility with many community groups, policy makers, and educational institutions. |
